Hello !!  Welcome to my little corner of leadwiththediet.com.

Some are familiar with me in the low carb world, if you're not, here is the short version of my low carb experiences.

I was the "big" kid, the overweight teenager, the "fat" bride and the young woman who was convinced that being thin was a pipe dream.  Sound familiar?

I began your standard run of the mill low carb plan in March of 1998 at 244 pounds.  I'm sure I was over 250 at one point but 244 is my highest recorded number.

Soon I had lost down to 207 and discovered I was expecting.  At that time, I fell off the proverbial wagon and did not resume low carb until June of 2000.

I dropped another 10 lbs and was at 197 when I stopped losing.  I tried every low carb "trick" in the book.  I took advice from anyone who had ever tried anything that worked.

Several long time successful low carbers had urged me to give up dairy but that was a prospect I dreaded.  Why should I have to give up dairy - other low carbers got along fine with it.   My mentors at the time introduced the thought that as much as I didn't want to accept it, *I* might not be ok with it - even though others are.

So in January of 2001 I reluctantly gave up all forms of dairy.  I was stunned at my body's response.  I lost 11 lbs and rested at 186 for quite a while.

This is when I met Adele.  I hosted a low carb luncheon and she attended.  We struck up a friendship and she became the most influential mentor in my life.

It took me a while to come around but luckily Adele recognized the symptoms of a yeast problem in me and she never once gave up on me.

On June 28th, 2004 I began an anti-yeast plan and have never looked back.

By July of 2002 I was able to declare goal at 157 lbs, Size 8, and 20% bodyfat.

I am now celebrating 3 years of maintenance.  My current weight runs anywhere from 152 to 156.  I still weight daily.  I still hold myself accountable.  I still plan my meals in advance.

Leading with the diet wasn't easy to start with.  3 years later it's as natural to me as breathing.

There are many other things I can share as time goes on.  Experiences, feelings, struggles, obstacles, setbacks, and successes.

For now, I'm happy to help Adele in this new endeavor.  I hope sharing my experiences and what I learned can help someone else, just the way Adele helped me turn my pipe dream into reality.

Sincerely,

ConnieMS
