Let's look at the label on Splenda...
Serving size=1 tsp(0.5g)
Calories=0
Total Fat=0g
Sodium=0mg
Total carbs=less than 1g
Protein=0g
Although all over the place they proclaim NO CALORIE Splenda, buried in their website is this little ditty.....
"SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener can lower carbohydrates and calories in recipes. For example, a cup of SPLENDA® Granular has 96 calories and 24 grams of carbohydrates, compared to the 770 calories and 192 grams of carbs found in a cup of sugar. Since SPLENDA® Granular measures and pours like sugar, you can use it like sugar in your favorite recipes. For your favorite beverages, SPLENDA® Packets are the perfect size to take with you anywhere you go."
Talk about when no doesn't exactly mean NO, LOL
So folks, a tsp. of Splenda has TWO calories (only in government label-legal terms is that the same as 0), both of which are carb calories. In fact not only are they carb calories—they’re SUGAR calories—it’s powdered corn SUGAR. That’s very likely just one reason why so many people over time tend to do so poorly with it, but I digress...)
Therefore a tsp. of Splenda has 0.5 carbs (hence the label legally says—“LESS THAN 1”). A cup of anything has 48 tsp. And thus 48 tsp. of Splenda = 24 carbs from S-U-G-A-R.
